The truck driver of an 18-wheeler that struck a stopped school bus on U.S. 301 in Bradford County, Florida in 2014 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. The truck driver pled no contest to four counts of reckless driving with serious bodily injury, but at his sentencing hearing, the driver blamed the truck owner for the bus crash, claiming that the company failed to properly maintain the commercial truck.

A flatbed tractor-trailer, which was carrying a concrete block, jackknifed while traveling in the southbound lanes of Interstate 275 in Tampa. The truck driver changed lanes near the downtown Tampa exit, and the tractor trailer’s load shifted. The big rig jackknifed and hit a guardrail under the I-4 overpass. The tractor trailer’s load spilled across the Interstate’s southbound lanes, causing the southbound lanes to close. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
