The results published by the National Complete Streets Coalition, ranked pedestrian safety within major metropolitan areas by assessing the rate of pedestrian deaths relative to the number of people that walk to work from 2008 to 2012.
On June 9, tbo.com reported a fatal semi truck accident that occurred recently in New Jersey. The incident occurred when a sleep-deprived semi truck driver crashed into the back of a limo, killing comedian James “Jimmy Mack” McNair and injuring comedian Tracy Morgan who suffered a broken femur, a broken nose and broken ribs. Morgan underwent surgery for his leg and is reported to be in critical condition at the time of this posting.
In September 2013, two bicyclists were killed in a car accident on Memorial Causeway.
On May 7, 2014 tampabay.com reported that the driver in this accident pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident involving death and is expected to be sentenced later this month. The report also includes surveillance video that shows the driver consuming large amounts of alcohol at the hotel bar where he works, shortly before the fatal accident that morning. The video is expected to be used as evidence in a civil lawsuit against the hotel.
