Box Truck Accident in Hillsborough County
On the afternoon on Wednesday July 22nd, a commercial box truck toppled off the Alafia Bridge and fell into the river. A Florida Highway Patrol comments that the truck was heading north on I-75 when it made an inapt lane change into the outside lane, which caused the truck to hit the left front end of a 2005 Toyota Camry. This caused both vehicles to lose control. The truck struck the concrete barrier wall, careened off the bridge, and landed into the water 25 feet below.
Fortunately, the driver of the truck was able to get out of the vehicle and into the safety of a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office boat. In addition, the two occupants of the Camry were wearing seatbelts. All three victims suffered minor injuries.
